PAVO Community Conversations

12 Dec 2025

Powys Cultural Services have been attending and contributing to the PAVO ‘Community Conversations’ events across the county.
‘Community Conversations’ is part of the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund programme. The aim is to listen to local people to understand their needs, priorities, and aspirations, and support them to shape solutions to local issues that work for their communities.
They have been visiting towns, villages, and communities to hear directly from local people – making sure no one is left out of the conversation.
This is an opportunity to prepare for the future – by listening, planning, and laying the groundwork now.
Where possible local library staff have been able to take part. Library staff are very often fountains of local community knowledge but rarely get the opportunity to be out and about to meet organisations and put faces to names, promote the important resources in the local library and be part of important community conversations.
Meg and Catherine from Newtown recently attended an event and said:
“It was great to see community organisations getting together to see what each other offers and how it might be useful to collaborate. Everyone was friendly and we came away with some valuable connections. Tasty Welsh cakes too!” (Meg)
“The event was an excellent opportunity for strengthening the network in Newtown and for sparking new ideas and connections.” (Catherine)
