Orange Wallets Now Available at Powys Libraries

2 Nov 2026

Orange Wallets are now available free of charge from libraries across Powys, helping people communicate their needs more easily when travelling on public transport.

The Orange Wallet Scheme is a collaborative project funded by the Welsh Government as part of the All-Wales Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Strategy. It has been developed to support people who may find it difficult to communicate with transport staff, particularly when travelling by bus or train.

While the scheme was designed with autistic passengers in mind, Orange Wallets can be used by anyone with a hidden disability, communication difficulty, or additional support need who would benefit from a simple, non-verbal way of sharing important information.

Each wallet is provided empty so that it can be tailored to an individual’s needs. Users can add personalised information, such as communication preferences, emergency contacts, or details about the support they may require when travelling. A range of inserts and printable templates is available from the Neurodivergence Wales website: Orange wallet – Niwrowahaniaeth Cymru | Neurodivergence Wales | National Neurodivergence Team

By making it easier for passengers to communicate with transport staff, the Orange Wallet Scheme aims to increase confidence, independence and accessibility when using public transport.

To collect a free Orange Wallet, visit your local Powys library and speak to a member of staff.
