Llanidloes Museum occupies a historic town hall building in the centre of the town and shares its space with Llanidloes Library. The museum focuses on the heritage of Llanidloes and Montgomeryshire, with collections that include local crafts, domestic life, and archaeological finds.
Exhibits trace the development of the historic market town and its role in the wider history of mid-Wales.
Llanidloes Museum of Local History and Industry was established in 1930 and was originally housed in the old Market Hall until it moved in 1995 to the ground floor of the Town Hall.
Now co-located with Llanidloes Library, the museum depicts the history of the Borough of Llanidloes over the last 300 years. Exhibits are nestled amongst the library shelves, displaying items related to the 1839 Chartist outbreak, lead mines and woollen industry. The last room features three diorama cases representing late Victorian scenes, a kitchen and laundry, parlour room and naturalist’s study.
