Springboard Weekend
17 April @ 5:00 pm - 19 April @ 10:00 pm
FREE
The 2026 Springboard Weekend launches the Festival year by inviting the Presteigne community to enjoy a lively and varied programme of arts events.
Highlights include performances by Ukrainian bandura player and singer Galyna Grigoriadi, a solo cello recital from Clare O’Connell, and a recital by mezzo-soprano Lucy Gibbs with guitarist Declan Hickey featuring music by local composer Jonty Watt.
Local favourites The Velvet Violin host a cabaret-style evening with guest musicians, while Presteigne Library offers free drop-in music. Families can enjoy Philip Michell’s children’s show Dragon Tales, blending puppetry with Welsh myths.
The weekend also features talks by Gavin Plumley and artist Dan Llywelyn Hall, plus a community plant sale organised by Presteigne Plenty and the Community Gardeners.
Supporting emerging talent, six early-career composers will take part in a public cello composition workshop.
The full programme is released in early March, with booking opening on 17 March.
