Maldwyn Treasures - Local and Family History resources at Newtown Library

Newtown Library holds the Local Studies Collection for Montgomeryshire.

The collection is held in the Trysorau Maldwyn / Maldwyn Treasures room, a dedicated space for your local and family research.

The Welsh ‘Maldwyn’ (in English, Montgomeryshire) is derived from the Welsh name for the county town of Montgomery: Tre-Faldwyn or ‘Town of Baldwyn’. The name dates back to the time when Baldwyn de Boulers held the town following the Norman Conquest.
