Michael Zev Gordon joins as composer-in-residence\, alongside a spotlight on emerging Dutch composer Mathilde Wantenaar. \nNew music remains central\, with works by leading composers including Michael Berkeley\, Cameron Biles-Liddell\, Ninfea Cruttwell-Reade\, Lillie Harris\, Cheryl Frances-Hoad\, Gabriel Jackson\, Tayla-Leigh Payne\, Robert Peate\, Electra Perivolaris\, Lynne Plowman\, Emma-Ruth Richards\, Claire Victoria Roberts\, Natalie Roe and Daniel Soley. These sit alongside classics by Bartók\, Beethoven\, Britten\, Elgar\, Ravel and Schumann\, plus a semi-staged performance of Stravinsky’s L’histoire du soldat. \nBeyond concerts\, the Festival offers a wide arts programme\, including a three-film retrospective of director Jane Campion\, talks\, a bat walk\, children’s storytelling\, and a continued partnership with Presteigne Open Studios.

DESCRIPTION:Drop in Days are an opportunity to find support and information for your Health and Wellbeing under one roof.\nYou don’t know what you don’t know and sometimes it is is really difficult to know where to start or to understand who it is you need support from.\nIt is increasingly difficult to get an appointment at your GP practice and referrals can take a long time too.\nEvery month you have the opportunity to meet with services and organisations across the Health\, Social and Charity sectors who offer support across all ages and needs. If you come along and meet an Occupational Therapist or somebody from the Citizens Advice team or from the Falls Service or the Sensory team – you might be able to get just the right kind of information to help you and find the right path to take.\nOne lady asked an Occupational Therapist (OT) about tips for getting her mum safely in and out of the car. In the space of five minutes the OT was able to guide through some ideas which the lady felt confident would work. This made the difference between getting out and about and not getting out and about. Another person told us that they had no idea a benefit they might be entitled to.

This includes understanding the different types of clay\, how to prepare it\, and the essential tools you will use. Most classes start with simple hand-building techniques such as pinching\, coiling\, and slab building. These methods help you get comfortable with the material before moving on to more advanced techniques like wheel throwing. Alex Allpress will demonstrate each step clearly\, and you will have plenty of time to practice. Expect to get your hands dirty as you learn to shape and mould the clay. It’s a tactile experience that requires patience and a willingness to experiment. You will learn about the properties of clay and how it behaves when wet and dry.

DESCRIPTION:This group is aimed at younger teenagers. Suitable for ages 10-13 year olds. \nMPYT is a space where imagination comes to life. It’s where friendships are born\, and unique individuals come together to create something magical.\nYou will have a chance to find your voice—learn what you think\, who you are\, and where you want to belong in the world. It’s a place to ask life’s big questions and figure out the answers together. It’s a place to feel joy\, and have fun. \nMPYT is a safe space to be bold\, to take risks\, push at the edges and discover new sides of yourself. \nFrom January to July the group will be led by an experience theatre makers: \nTamar Williams\, an award winning bilingual storyteller and Bethan Dear\, a director and theatre maker with 20+ year experience working in Wales and London.\nTamar and Bethan will work alongside the young leaders from our MPYT+ group who have themselves been members\, been away to do performance degrees and have now come back and are learning the skills they need to be brilliant workshop leaders for the next generation of MPYTers. \nOr get in touch with us to find our more. \nGive us a message at hello@mpyt.co.uk. \n5.30-6.30pm Tuesday evenings throughout term time. \nCelf O Gwmpas\, Llandrindod\, LD1 5EB \nSubs are £60 for the term (just over £5 a session – sibling discounts apply)

SUMMARY:Big MPYT – Youth Theatre for ages 14-24
DESCRIPTION:Sometimes in school there seems to be a pressure to hide who you are and fit in. MPYT is a safe place to come and be the big (or small) version (or versions) of your unique selves with people who will celebrate you for being just that. MPYT offers a supportive creative ‘home’ for you as you explore your adult self\, where you will be heard and treated as an equal and be able to ask life’s big questions. You will be encouraged to explore the edges of who you are and what you are capable of with supportive friends and the best theatre making people we can get a hold of. \nThis is the core youth theatre group; the Tuesday evening workshop and session that’s been running since 1987. \nFrom January to July 2025 we are inviting award winning billingual storyteller Tamar Williams to lead some sessions and also Bethan Dear who is a theatre maker who has worked in Wales and London for 20+ years and is brilliant! Our young leaders in training Alice\, Melody and Ben (sometimes all of them\, and sometimes others like Cai and Ellis) will also be assisting the sessions too\, they are ex-members themselves and are there to welcome and support you and get you settled in.\nA typical session will involve theatre games and exercises\, devising challenges; trust & focus games; and other stuff like physical theatre; mask-work; design; puppetry; circus; singing; stage-combat… ooh\, we could go on\, but you’ll have to come and see for yourself. \nFancy joining in?
