Cataloguing and Digitisation Volunteer - Powys Archives

 

Helping to catalogue and digitise our archival collections to improve preservation and accessibility.

Tasks

You will be working within the Archive Office in Llandrindod Wells:

  • Re-packaging collection items for preservation purposes.

  • Scanning and processing historical documents.

  • Cataloguing collections into a word template.

Qualities

  • Have great attention to detail

  • Have good computer skills, ideally with experience in data entry.

  • Are enthusiastic and interested to learn about the archive’s collections.

An enhanced DBS certificate is required for this role.

 

Training

Each volunteer will receive a basic induction including Health & Safety advice, background information about the organisation and an orientation around the building (including evacuation procedures). Volunteers will also receive training specific to their role as appropriate.

Time Commitment:

Either half a day (morning or afternoon) or one day a week. Although the archive is only open to the public on Thursdays and Fridays, volunteering opportunities are available throughout the week to meet everyone’s availability.
