SUMMARY:Free CADW Open Doors
DESCRIPTION:Take a tour behind the scenes into the archive store where around 120\,000 individual items are housed. Located in Llandrindod Wells\, Powys Archives serves as the official repository for the records of the county of Powys (Montgomeryshire\, Radnorshire\, and Breconshire). The collections date from the 14th century and can be used for all types of research\, including tracing your family history\, discovering the history of your house\, and finding out more about the history of your village or community. \nPeruse some of the interesting items including the oldest (a deed relating to the town New Radnor dating from 1318)\, Victorian Christmas cards\, police charge books\, school log books and photograph albums. We will also showcase some of our new accessions for 2025 including the Rousham Roberts photograph collection which has been transferred to us from Radnorshire Museum. \nThe tour will be followed by refreshments and also includes a goody bag to take away. \nBooking is required for the tours\, which will run at 10.30am and 11.30am.
